BAM takes the world’s first electric road roller into service

Gouda, the Netherlands, 22 April 2020 - BAM Infra Nederland has built and commissioned the world’s first fully electric 10 to 12-tonne road roller. This unique and sustainable piece of equipment was created by BAM’s plant and equipment department, on the basis of an older model which was due for an overhaul. The conversion took place over a period of one and a half year. This week the emission-free road roller was put to work on its first project, in the city of Almere. Other projects will follow soon. With this electric road roller, BAM makes a significant contribution to the climate goals of its clients by providing cleaner construction methods.

New Antarctic wharf ready for the RRS Sir David Attenborough

16 April 2020 - For the first time, polar ships have moored at a new £40 million wharf at British Antarctic Survey’s (BAS) Rothera Research Station in Antarctica.  The RRS James Clark Ross used it to re-supply the station and pick up staff for return to the UK. Construction partners and designers of the wharf, BAM, with the support of Sweco and technical advisors, Ramboll, completed a second, six-month construction season, during the Antarctic austral summer. Turner & Townsend also provided cost management for the project.

Eiffage and Kier receive Notice to Proceed for HS2, with their new partners, Ferrovial Agroman and BAM Nuttall

Camberley, 15 April 2020 - The Eiffage Kier joint venture, recently joined by two new partners Ferrovial Agroman and BAM Nuttall, is pleased that today (15 April), it has received Notice to Proceed (NTP) from HS2 Limited, enabling it to commence the full detailed design and construction of 80km of Phase 1 of the HS2 railway (the route from London – Birmingham).

Asphalting at night

Gouda, 10 April 2020 – BAM’s sustainable process to produce low-energy asphalt concrete (LEAB, after its Dutch name) has received the official seal of approval of CROW, the Dutch technology platform for transport, infrastructure and public space. This certification by the experts of CROW’s asphalt quality steering group validates our claims regarding reduced CO2 emissions, costs of environmental impact (‘MKI’), civil engineering qualities and processability. In essence, this paves the way for 100% application of sustainable asphalt in future road projects.

Professional team behind Harrogate’s emergency hospital draws on first-rate healthcare experience

Hemel Hempstead, 6 April 2020 - The professional team delivering the emergency Nightingale Hospital at Harrogate Hospital has been announced. The new circa-500-bed facility, part of the Government’s response to the covid-19 pandemic, involves converting Harrogate Convention Centre to accommodate the level three critical care beds in the existing Convention Centre's halls for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. BAM Construction, ranked independently as Yorkshire’s largest contractor, is appointed as the main design and build contractor under the Government’s ProCure 22 framework for England, with the assistance of BAM Design, appointed to deliver structural engineering, and BAM’s specialist services engineering business.

BAM FM delivers school lunches on wheels in Bristol

Hemel Hempstead / Bristol, 6 April 2020 - BAM FM was approached by Bristol City Council who were struggling to deliver the required amount of free school meals to local school children in the area. A kind-hearted team of five FM engineers rose to the challenge, clearing their vans of equipment to deliver 4,000 school meals (provided by Chartwells) to 66 schools.

Manchester, 2 April 2020 - Oak View Group (OVG) has appointed Royal BAM Group (BAM) as its preferred construction partner, and Populous, a global architecture design firm, to lead the world-class team behind a new 23,500-capacity arena in Manchester. The venue would be the largest arena in the UK, bringing £350 million private direct investment into the city and significant economic benefit.

Announcement BAM regarding Annual General Meeting 15 April 2020

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 31 March 2020 – Royal BAM Groep nv confirms that the Annual General Meeting of 15 April 2020 will take place at 14.00 hours, although the set-up has changed. In connection with the coronavirus outbreak and in order to align with government guidelines, a number of measures are being taken to minimise the risk of contamination and ensure the meeting is conducted in a responsible manner. There is an urgent appeal to shareholders not to be physically present, but to vote by proxy and/or ask questions in advance.
