Bunnik, the Netherlands, 6 November 2017 – Mr G. Cash, BA, RIBA will retire as chief executive of BAM Construct UK Ltd with effect from 1 January 2018. The Executive Board would like to thank Graham Cash for more than 31 years of loyal service and, in particular, his contribution in leadership roles within the Group since 1995. Graham Cash has been a member of the board of BAM Construct UK since 2007.

The Executive Board of Royal BAM Group nv has appointed Mr J. Wimpenny, BSc (Hons), MCIOB as chief executive of BAM Construct UK Ltd with effect from 1 January 2018. James Wimpenny has 32 years’ service with the company. He served as regional director of the North East division of BAM Construction from 2006 to 2015 when he was appointed an executive director of BAM Construct UK.

Hemel Hempstead, 1 November 2017 - Sheffield Hallam University has appointed BAM Construction to build its £14 million, world-leading Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC). Building of the AWRC is scheduled to start in February 2018 and it will form the centrepiece of the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park (OLP).

London, 30 October 2017 - BuildingSMART created the Award program to recognize exemplary projects using buildingSMART solutions. Entries must deploy one or more buildingSMART tools or standards, and are judged on how effectively, or how innovatively, they have used these to overcome interoperability challenges. Judges are called from each of the buildingSMART chapters.

BAM-GRAHAM Healthcare Partnership chosen for new £57 million Belfast Maternity Unit at Royal Victoria Hospital

Belfast, 27 October 2017 – GRAHAM and BAM have been chosen by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to construct its new £57 million maternity hospital at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. The project will be delivered through GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership, a joint venture between GRAHAM Construction and BAM Ireland.

‘Adopt a School’ programme nets Leeds College of Building one of Yorkshire’s biggest contractors as a new sponsor

Leeds, 26 October 2017 - Teaching and learning in the digital construction sector in Yorkshire has been given a boost as Leeds College of Building has signed up BAM Construction as a sponsor. The College helps to deliver the award winning Design Engineer Construct! (DEC) learning programme in schools and sixth form centres through the national ‘Adopt A School’ programme. BAM employs around 175 people in the region plus around a thousand sub-contractors from its office based in Thorpe Park.

BAM wins joint venture contract for wharf in Kitimat, BC, Canada

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 18 October 2017 – BAM International (the operating company of Royal BAM Group active outside Europe) together with JJM Construction (Canada) and Manson Construction (USA) has been awarded the contract to build the new Rio Tinto Aluminium BC Works wharf on behalf of LNG Canada. This wharf will replace the existing Rio Tinto Terminal B, used for import and export of raw materials and finished products for Rio Tinto’s ongoing operations, that needs to be relocated due to the planned LNG export terminal in Kitimat, British Columbia (approximately 600 km northwest of Vancouver).

IMC-BAM-Atkins consortium providing safe water supply in Sierra Leone

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 17 October 2017 - In consortium with IMC Worldwide and Atkins, BAM has been awarded the design and construction contract to rehabilitate the water supply in Sierra Leone’s capital city, Freetown. The contract will develop the scheme through feasibility studies, engineering and detailed design and construction using NEC target cost contracts to demonstrate value and cost for each stage. BAM’s part of the project will amount to approximately €25 million.
