BAM reports third quarter adjusted EBITDA of €66 million, outlook reiterated

First nine months 2021 trading update

Royal BAM Group nv reports for the first nine months of 2021 an adjusted EBITDA of €223 million versus an adjusted EBITDA of €38 million in the same period of 2020. In the third quarter there was a strong performance from Dutch Construction and Property, and a satisfactory contribution from most other activities. The large contracts division of Dutch Civil engineering continues to underperform. The order book of €13.5 billion remains high. BAM is making good progress with its new strategy: a continued focus on rebalancing of the portfolio, further de-risking, increasing profitability and creating a sustainable platform for future growth. For 2021, BAM reiterates the outlook of an adjusted EBITDA margin of around 3.5 per cent.

Department for Education appoints BAM to create net-zero pathfinder school to shape future school design

Hemel Hempstead, 3 November 2021 - As COP26 is taking place, the Department for Education has appointed leading school contractor BAM to create a ‘pathfinder’ college that develops sustainable design for building new schools. The teaching and communal building is Southam College in Warwickshire’s which has 1,652 students.

Sale of BAM Deutschland to Zech Group and Gustav Zech Stiftung successfully completed

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 18 October 2021 - Royal BAM Group nv has sold its German operating company BAM Deutschland (including subsidiaries BAM Immobilien-Dienstleistungen and BAM Sports) to Zech Group and Gustav Zech Stiftung. The transaction, announced on 9 September 2021, has been successfully completed. Financial details of the transaction are not being disclosed.

Works to begin onsite in the coming weeks

(Press release Kildare County Council:) Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland, 14 October 2021 - Kildare County Council has confirmed the main works contract for the Athy Distributor Road has been awarded to BAM Civil Limited. The successful contractor for the development of the 3.4 km link road has been appointed following an extensive tender process and recent confirmation of funding for the project by the Department of Transport as part of Project Ireland 2040.

Hardt Hyperloop has been awarded €15 million from Brussels's first hyperloop investment package

It is a clear acknowledgement by the European Commission that the hyperloop is seen as a sustainable means of transport

(Press release Hardt Hyperloop:) Delft, the Netherlands, 14 October 2021 - Hardt Hyperloop, the Dutch company working on the development of the hyperloop, has been awarded €15 million by the European Commission. It is the first time that a hyperloop company has received such financial support from Brussels. The EIC Accelerator funds were awarded by the European Innovation Council and will help Hardt and its public and private partners to accelerate the development of the hyperloop. This award demonstrates the European Commission's recognition of the hyperloop as an important key to achieving Europe's sustainability goals.

Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau and Züblin receive contract to construct new mine water drainage tunnel in Ibbenbüren

Frankfurt/Stuttgart, 11 October 2021 - On 4 October 2021, RAG Aktiengesellschaft awarded a bidding consortium consisting of Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG (50%, technical lead) and Ed. Züblin AG (50%, commercial lead) the contract for the construction of a new mine water drainage tunnel for dewatering the Ibbenbüren mine - one of the last German coal mines - which was closed down in 2018. The contract has a construction volume in the three-digit million range; the multi-year construction work is scheduled to start in November of this year.
