Targets and performance
BAM’s energy consumption and corresponding CO2 emissions have a great impact on society. BAM has set targets to reduce its carbon footprint: by 2020, BAM aims to reduce its CO2 intensity (CO2 emissions relative to turnover) by 25% compared to 2015.
BAM pursues this target by taking energy use reduction measures on project sites and offices, procuring green electricity and reducing fuel consumption of its vehicle fleet. BAM’s relative CO2 emissions showing a decreasing trend, and its 2020 target remains within reach:
BAM also got its Science Based Target accepted in 2019. A Science Based Target aligns a company’s CO2 reduction target with the level of climate change mitigation required according to the International Panel of Climate Change (IPCC). The key commitments BAM makes in this target are:
- Reduce the CO2 intensity by 50% by 2030 compared to 2015
- Procure 100% renewable electricity by 2030
BAM aims to deliver sustainable and innovative building solutions, and continuously strives for further improvements together with our clients and supply chain partners. Royal BAM’s efforts on climate change mitigation are recognized by the A- score BAM received on their 2017 climate change CDP response.
