At BAM, we strive for sustainability in our operations, but achieving this goal is a real challenge.

BAM is launching GROENR, an initiative that promotes sustainability in the Dutch construction sector through the new sustainable concrete concept GROENR CONCRETE.

BAM Facilities Management (BAM FM) has assisted The Sustainable Facilities Management Index (SFMI), Bouygues ES and Skanska for Stage 2 of its project to develop a tool for managing Scope 3 carbon emissions in the FM sector.

Gouda, the Netherlands, 5 September 2022 - BAM Infra Nederland – in close collaboration with Koninklijke van Twist *) – has successfully converted a diesel-powered asphalt spreading paver into a machine with a hydrogen combustion engine. The engine emits virtually no nitrogen oxide and saves approximately 80,420 kilograms of CO₂ on an annual basis.

Gouda, the Netherlands, 14 January 2021 – Royal BAM Group’s Dutch civil engineering company (BAM Infra Nederland) has commissioned Wirtgen and New Electric to convert an asphalt spreading machine into the world's first fully electrically driven asphalt spreading paver. On an annual basis, the use of this machine will save more than 93,000 kilograms of CO₂ and 115,000 grams of nitrogen oxide emissions.

26 March 2021 - Built environment company BAM has carried out an assessment of the embodied carbon and the operational carbon used in the design and construction of a new primary school in Somerset. Handing over King Ina School in Somerton, BAM said that its approach would benefit future school designs by giving it a benchmark that can both be revisited at the school itself, and which will help inform the design and construction of future schools.

200,000 sq ft development gets underway in Bristol

(Press release CEG:) Bristol, 7 December 2020 - CEG’s 200,000 sq ft EQ development in the heart of Bristol City Centre broke ground on the main construction phase this week, becoming the largest speculative office development currently underway in the south of England.

All projects across BAM need electricity to power their site compounds and accommodation therefore a generator or grid connection is a fundamental requirement. BAM Nuttall in the UK has been steadily adopting alternative forms of power generation across its projects.

Gouda, the Netherlands, 22 April 2020 - BAM Infra Nederland has built and commissioned the world’s first fully electric 10 to 12-tonne road roller. This unique and sustainable piece of equipment was created by BAM’s plant and equipment department, on the basis of an older model which was due for an overhaul. The conversion took place over a period of one and a half year. This week the emission-free road roller was put to work on its first project, in the city of Almere. Other projects will follow soon. With this electric road roller, BAM makes a significant contribution to the climate goals of its clients by providing cleaner construction methods.

Gouda, 10 April 2020 – BAM’s sustainable process to produce low-energy asphalt concrete (LEAB, after its Dutch name) has received the official seal of approval of CROW, the Dutch technology platform for transport, infrastructure and public space. This certification by the experts of CROW’s asphalt quality steering group validates our claims regarding reduced CO2 emissions, costs of environmental impact (‘MKI’), civil engineering qualities and processability. In essence, this paves the way for 100% application of sustainable asphalt in future road projects.

As the pressure on the Dutch infrastructure continues to grow, BAM is rethinking the concept of mobility. A good example can be found in the work of goinGDutch, our partnership with Schiphol Airport, Microsoft and OrangeNXT.

For the sake of our economy, it is important that cities and mainports are easily accessible but it is equally important that they have an optimal through-flow of traffic.

The site of the former Bijlmerbajes prison complex is being put to new use, with the health and happiness of its residents and users given primary consideration.

Gouda, 23 January 2018 - Delta Marine Consultants has signed a license agreement with Swiss company SEL AG for the use of XblocPlus in the Marina Porto Albania Project.

The coastal engineering team of BAM Infraconsult/DMC was present at the International Conference on Coastal Engineering in Baltimore, where the latest developments in the field of ​​coastal engineering are shared. Here BAM showed its youngest innovation XblocPlus to the public. BAM’s presentation of the results of the XblocPlus study were received favorably and received great interest of almost all leading scientists in the field of coastal engineering.
